Videos and Leap Day

I have one more that I really want to post, but I promise I'll stop for a while, then post it later. Today is leap day! Does that mean that anything I do today doesn't count? I'm going to rob so many banks... Just kidding. No I'm not, yes I am. What would you do on a day that you knew "didn't count"?

Please don't hate me

This was taken in our car, I was never sure if he knew I was recording or not.

Octopi

Are scary. Check this out. If you don't have sound, I swear this is what they were saying. At a large aquarium, they kept finding dead sharks. They put a camera in the tank to find out what was happening and this is what they found:

Dolphins

Okay, hopefully this works and is my first video post. When I was in Jr High, I wanted to be a Marine Biologist. I got past that, but I still love anything that ahas to do with ocean life. I stumbled across this video, and it's really cool.

Invasion, White Noise 2

Okay, i said I'd review the movies I watched this weekend, so here goes:

Invasion, starring Nicole Kidman. It was good overall, I really was grossed out (in a good way) by how the invasion was spread. The arrival of the invasion on earth was incredibly believable. I liked most, I think, the science content in the movie. The rest of it I found mostly to be too heavy handed with it's message about passion and emotion and it's consequences. The acting waas good on all parts and I thought the costuming was excellent. When Nicole Kidman gets more tired and disheveled, it's authentic.

White Noise 2, I wanted to see for two reasons. The whole concept of EVP (electronic voice phenomenon) really intrigues me. Also, it had Nathan Fillion. I'm all for that. I need a little Mal viewing now and then. This movie really fell short on that first reason. They basically discuss EVP briefly in the beginning and then go ahead with a concept loosely based on that, but eventually more like Final Destination. The first one was way better.

Free Tax Filing

I think everyone should be able to file their taxes electronically for free. It's a lot simpler, and this method goes through companies you can trust, companies that usually charge. A lot of people don't know that if your income is less than $54.000 you can file for free with companies like turbo tax online etc. Go here:

http://www.irs.gov/efile/article/0,,id=118986,00.html

There, they will direct you to a place to file your federal taxes for free. It's easy, really.

For you state taxes, unless you are in Indiana, you're on your own. I don't know where to go to find free filing. I would suggest googling your state name and "income taxes" and start that the state revenue service's website. For indiana, go here:

http://www.in.gov/dor/ifile/

Both free, and both easy.

Moss turtle

I think he's cute. It reminds me of bonsai. I think moss is a great thing to have in your garden. It is a very romantic and pretty plant. I've seen a lot of indoor moss gardens that I envy. Anyway, I found this guy on Amazon, and he's cute. It looks easy too, but I bet it's not.

Chainsaw

Okay, he didn't die. He just called me to tell me that everything was all right and and to look at the mess he had made. These are the logs he made. Eeek.

These are the branches that still need to be cleaned up. I want to build a ox or something for them.
This is what the ground looked like. Wow, sawdust.
This is the whole mess. Check out how snowy the ground was, and how thick that sawdust is!
Yay for my manly husband for getting this taken care of. Now we can burn baby, burn, that is, if we can figure out what kind of tree it was. Either that, or we'll decide not to care.

Blackberries and Barbecue

So, I left Jason at home with a chainsaw this morning. I know he can work it, but it makes me kinda nervous to not be there in case something happens. I saw him start on it this morning before I left, and t was going well. I'm a worrier though. Weekend wasn't that exciting. I watched White Noise 2 and Invasion, which I'll get into in a minute. The nicest thing I did this weekend was cook a big dinner on Sunday night. I made chicken with Stubbs marinade. It is the bomb. It is so tasty that it hurts. I also made veggies (woo hoo) and yummy twice baked potatoes with cheese, sour cream, green onion, butter and stuff. YUM. The very best part, however, was this:
Blackberry cobbler. Jason took pictures before I could clean the stove, don't yell at me. It was delicious. I want to make it again, right now, but I don't have enough blackberries. I made it with frozen and they turned out great. I think I'll add more of them next time. So, does anyone out there have a good basic barbecue sauce formula they are willing to share? Let me know!
