No post from my birthday no you see? How could I not post on by birthday you ask? It's because on the morning of my birthday, on my way to work, I wrecked my car. I rear ended a guy at a stoplight. I feel HORRIBLE, and I'm all bruised and burned. Jason came to save me and took a look at the car. He and I and everyone who's seen the pictures thought it was just cosmetic damage. It drove onto the wrecker. The people in the truck were fine. He drove the truck away, and wasn't injured.
Today they called me and told me that my car was totaled. I bawled. I feel so dumb, and I don't have anyone to blame but myself. The first person said that the biggest reason for totaling it was the airbag and the wiring harness. Then the second person said that there was frame damage. Jason doesn't think so, but what are you going to do? So, now I have to find a new car. Jason and I are looking at new honda fits. I suppose that should make me really happy, but I still feel AWFUL. I feel like I'm dragging this wonderful man down, and I know he doesn't deserve it. People, help me out.

More great pictures from homestead
Jason's a really great photographer and has a good eye. Most of the pictures you see on here are taken by him(the bad ones, by me) so I feel obliged to offer you some more from homestead.

Honeymoon Day 2 Homestead
We woke up early on our second day of honeymoon and Jason went to rent our car for the day! It was a Shelby mustang:
Extremely powerful throaty car. You could raise the front end up off the ground really easy. It was fun to drive. When Jason was bringing it back to the hotel, I could hear him a block away. We got in and drove to Miami Homestead speedway.
Indycar season opener! Yay! We had good seats for the race and there was a lot to see at the track. We got to go in the pits. We could really get right up to the cars. Hence, this picture or Jason's carbon fiber ring on the carbon fiber mirror.
After that we sat to watch a great race. The highlight for me was when TK said that it didn't matter that one of his wheels was hanging by a thread, he was going to restart. He eventually had to pull in, and the question you're all asking, where did our guy Vitor finish? 10th, not too shabby. The next day, on to the boat!
Garden
We made the garden this weekend! We started with a boring grassy lawn. Jason had bought me some awesome garden tools and we made quick (ish) work of that.
It was easier than I thought it would be with that tool, but not really quick. So yeah. We are almost finished digging, and we have found all kinds of leftovers from the power company. Little wires, pink twisties, and all kinds of other junk. We hadn't come across anything hard until the very end when we found this:
It's a root. Probably from the tree that died this past winter. Not only did it die, it wanted to take the power lines with it. We finally got it gone, but it didn't want to be forgotten. We had to break out the power tools to get rid of it.
Finally it was done and the plants were purchased by my wonderful mother, who will reap the benefits this summer.
I've planted:
corn
peas
cucumber
dill
broccoli
lettuce
green peppers
jalapeƱo peppers
tomatoes
strawberries
blackberries
yay! I'll give updates as the happen!

Shake Senora
We had an earthquake this morning! I know! Indiana? Earthquake? But we are on a fault line, the New Madrid fault. At about 5:38, I woke up and said, after moments of confusion "Honey, I think we're having an earthquake". It lasted a long time! It was stronger and much longer than the only other one I've felt (in 1987). We didn't even make it out of bed though. It was really confusing. The kitties were all hiding under the worst thing possible, a collapsible drying rack. They were fine, however and so was the rest of everything.
Just about 10 minutes ago, at work, we had an aftershock too. I didn't feel as much as see this one, all of my desk stuff was rattling. What did you feel? Anything? Let me know!

Honeymoon Day 1 Part 3, The neverending Drive

Yeah, that's what I thought of when I wrote the title. After Gypsy Gold, we got back on the road. It was THE LONGEST part of the trip. We drove and drove. And Drove and drove, and drove and drove. Traffic was horrendous from about Boca Raton to Hollywood. We were really done at that point. The Florida Turnpike cost us $11 and it was 6pm when we finally reached our hotel.
After some problems with keys, we got in and the room was very nice. 2 balconies, a beautiful shower, nice furniture etc. Remind me later to show you the picture of the running robe. You'll understand then. We immediately changed and headed out to the beach.
It was a beautiful beach, next to a wide pathway called the broadwalk. There were little windows in it that made for an excellent photo op.
..... ABOUT SUCKING! It was entertaining. So finally, after about 36 hours awake, we finally went to sleep. Until tomorrow...

Honeymoon Day 1 Part 2 : Gypsy Gold
Earlier in this blog, I wrote about a breed of horse that I'd found online and I not only found mesmerizing, it seemed to possess all of the qualities that I want someday in a horse of my own. I talked a little about them in a previous blog. The owners of the farm, Gypsy Gold, were really nice and invited us down for a visit and tour. We got there at around 11 and it was gorgeous even before we saw the horses.
See?
So, we arrive, and before we're even out of the car, a greyhound jumps onto Jason's lap. He wanted to go for a ride! We managed our way out, and all of the sudden there was a Irish wolfhound at my elbow. He was a puppy. I'm not kidding about the elbow part, that's where his head was, and he wasn't even trying. So, we play with the puppies, and make our way in to talk with the owners. They were so nice. They talked for a while about the breed and how it made it's way here courtesy of them just in the last few decades. Then we got to tour the farm. First up was the horse I wanted Jason to see the most, B.B. King. He was born to his music.

A beautiful horse. I hadn't seen the mustaches in the other pictures, but isn't it cute? He was so friendly, as all of them were. When we arrived at each pen, the horses came up to the fence to visit us. Then we went to the next pen and saw some babies! They were so cute, and so soft. they had curly hair, their winter coat. They were with their recipient mothers. If you read the page I directed you to last time, you'll see that the farm rescues horses bound for the slaughterhouse, and uses them on the farm as host mothers to babies. They have a great life on the farm and treat the babies as their own. Take a look!
Really sweet. The next one we saw is my favorite Gypsy Vanner. He's gorgeous. He's sweet. He's just so awesome. He's Lachto Drom:

He's so pretty. Yay. Then we moved on past a few other horses, on to two pens full of young horses. Not as young as the first two, away from their mothers, and they loved to lick our hands. Jason got these GREAT pictures.

They were great too. On our way back to the barn we saw that he also raises macaws, ring tailed lemurs and racing doves. They were all cool too. He also had a myna bird that had learned to imitate the beep of the smoke detector low on batteries sound. That was interesting. The husband of the other couple with us almost stuck his finger in her cage, and we were all waiting for that sharp beak to get him, but he got away in time. I'll share a few more pictures at another time, but that's all for now. It was an awesome way to start off our honeymoon. The land itself was breathtaking, and the horses we more than I could have asked for. I really want one...
Tune in next time for the rest of a LOOONG drive.

Day One Indianapolis to Miami OR The Longest Drive Ever. Part one!?!
On Thursday, I had the day off, so I got us all packed up, got the house clean and everything packed in the car. We had:
One big suitcase full of clothes
One smaller suitcase filled with shampoo, razors, etc and books. Too many books
One garment bag with the hubby's nice clothes
One large pink bag full of shoes
Our laptop bag with computer and cables for every electronic device in the world My racing bag of doom with scanner etc
Jason's camera bag with camera and stuff
A cooler filled with drinks and sandwiches
Bags of chips and snacks for the car
I just hoped that we weren't over our 200 pounds per person limit. I like to have options of what to wear when traveling and so does Jason. I had prepared for the trip's reading opportunities by checking out waaay too many books for each of us. I had also selected 2 audiobooks for the trip. Brother Odd by Dean Koontz and Gregor the Overlander by Suzanne Collins. Those being in their own bag, I had a solid 50 lbs worth of books in the one suitcase. I'd saved one out for the car, Poltergeist by Kat Richardson. I really promise this whole thing won't be about books, but I really love sitting on the beach and reading, or just sitting anywhere and reading. I really get time to read for fun on a vacation.
So, all of the books (and everything else) were packed and I'd managed to heft the suitcases into the car. Jason got home and we were on our way.
We didn't even make it out of Indiana before we were hungry. Okay, so we left around 6 after not eating all day, so we had every right to be hungry. We stopped a a cracker barrel, because everything's better at the barrel. Well fed, we were on our real way. We made it through Indiana, and part of Kentucky when it became my turn to drive. I put in Gregor the Overlander.
The book is about 2 kids, a boy and his baby sister, that fall through a chute in their laundry room to the underland, a place inhabited by giant roaches, rats and bats, as well as a humanoid species that Gregor and Boots fall in with. We soon learn that Gregor's arrival has been foretold in a prophecy and that he has a mission. Much adventure follows and it was a good book. I think Jason liked it even more than I did. The narration was entertaining and the length was right for that part of the trip. It ended just as we needed to pay attention again. That being after we crossed Tennessee, and Georgia, and were in Florida, looking for our first stop...
